"Are You Ready For Some Football?"

Happy first day of Fall and happy Friday!

What goes better with Fall than football? Since it is Football Friday Night  and I have a senior football player this year, then why not start the party? As we say goodbye to summertime activities, we gear up for a busy season of Football. In my house it starts on Friday evening and continues into Sunday. After school is when the fesitivities begin as the high school parking lot fills with students and parents dressed in their spiritwear ready to support their team! The kids usually have a theme for the home games and they dress in whatever that theme is for that week! It's fun to see what they come up with and all the crazy attire they wear. It's a great way for them to show their school spirit and support their team. During the September 11th weekend, our student's chose "America" as their theme and came dressed in red, white and blue. Some came dressed as political figures too. I saw Lincoln, Nixon and Obama all together in the student section!

Of course for the collegiate fan, no football game would be complete without a proper tailgate!

"A party in the parking lot" with  great food and drink!

Myrecipes.com's "Complete Tailgating Guide" has recipe's and idea's for decor for your tailgate with a printable Game Day Checklist.

Below is my easy recipe for Game Day Beer Brats

Game Day Beer Brats

12 Bratwurst Sausage
3 bottles lager beer
2 large onions sliced
2  large bottles roasted red peppers, sliced
12 brat rolls, split
Mustard

Grill brats until brown and cooked through
While brats are grilling, brown sliced onion in large pot
Add beer to pot with onions and simmer over medium high heat
When brats are cooked through, add to pot with beer and onions and keep on a low simmer
When ready to serve, drain brats and onions from beer and place in  serving bowl

To serve, spread each bun with mustard and place brat in bun. Top with onions and roasted red pepper.

Enjoy with a nice cold beer!

Weather you are watching a high school, collegiate or NFL game this weekend, sit back, relax and cheer your team on to victory!
